Jupiter is now dominating the sky in the early morning in Sagittarius at magnitude -2.7. If you're a crazy person like me and happen to be hiking during these hours you'll have no trouble at all identifying it. It's the big bright object in the southern sky. The other object to pay attention to is Globular Cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules. I could just make it out without binoculars in the dark skies at Goose Creek State Park last night. Look straight up toward the zenith at around 11 pm. Don't count on seeing it without binoculars unless you have a dark sky and a little imagination.
