This past weekend we took two of the dogs to Elkin, North Carolina for Marion's Grandmother's 93rd birthday party. We managed to get a hike in early Saturday morning on the Wolf Rock Trail at Stone Mountain State Park, one of my favorite places to hike in the mountains, and have a great visit with family. The top photo is of Ghepetto after a 4.5-mile hike up to Wolf Rock, left. The ponies are at Grandmother's farm and the tomato, peach and apple sit on the windowsill in the kitchen. The peach later became part of a peach cobbler pie!

Hiking the Hike
Buzzard Rock, a rock formation in the Jefferson National Forrest where I spent the last few days hiking and camping on my own and with the local Sierra Club. We hiked a very short distance on the Appalachian Trail from Whitetop Mountain to this outcropping where, on a clear day, you can see four states. Read more here
